2007
				IN MEMORY OF
				Lieutenant GENTLE VICKERS
who having bravely fought with the
				DUKE of WELLINGTON in several
				of his Engagements in Spain
and also at the memorable Battle
of WATERLOO died in this City
				on the 9th May 1823
				Aged 35 Years
In the churchyard of St Mary Bishophill Senior, York.
He bravely fought memorable battles, despite being christened with a first name not particularly suggestive of a military career. The capitalisation in his inscription draws our attention to the most important words. But no one notices now or cares. In the churchyard without a church, his headstone and a few others remain, amongst the litter, empty beer cans and dog dirt.

St Mary’s Bishophill Senior has changed in recent years. It’s now a community maintained garden, peaceful, respectful, definitely no dog dirt and the litter, if any, brought by the wind.
In Acomb we have the Grave of a fellow soldier of Waterloo period and a VC winner.
Yes but I can’t remember the details, can you add more information please
