Though I don’t have anything much on the South Bank area, there are a few pages on Holgate here on York Stories:
– About a boundary stone
– On the lovely Holgate Villa
– The windmill (from a few years back)
– and quite a few pages about the former carriageworks site, including the old canteen building and the sculpture and wildflower meadow

It had a brilliant atmosphere, full of bikers and young wanna be bikers like me with my leather & cut off denim.

I remember the instruction if the police decided to raid, was to quickly pour your drink on the floor.

Love the website, I only discovered it in the last couple of days, I’d love to see some articles on Holgate and South Bank in the future.
