		<description><![CDATA[Thank you for this lovely memory. After Alne I went on a bit further, and cycled to Raskelf station, as it once was, as my great-grandfather had worked there for a time. A shame all these stations closed. Would have been nice to be able to get a train back - was a long and rather arduous cycle ride!]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[A dear friend of mine was Alf Whitelock who lived near Alne Station. He was a signal man at Alne station who allowed me to enter the signal box where
I witnessed him operating the levers to direct trains 
onto the correct tracks. There was  also a branch line that went to Easingwold but sadly this is no longer in use. Alf was also an amateur radio operator and thus communicated with other like people all over  England. Sadly he died before his  
time and is now buried in Alne Churchyard.]]></description>
