Just reading he comments from the lady who lived in blossom St. My auntie Rose and uncle
Leslie Pinder along with twins Audrey and Geoffrey has the
Kendal public house from 1937 to 1953. It is where my mother and father met and subsequently married. Tales in the family about how grandma asked the family to leave the pub and go and stay with her in Newton Terrace in Bishophill. Not that far but further away from the railway. I was told over and over again how the pub shook from the bombs when they fell somewhere towards Leeman Road.
Happily we all survived that. But my grandad was killed in Tunisia and that's a sad story

I lived in Micklegate from 1949 - 1966 above my father's fruit shop, Furby and Young, which is on the corner of Trinity Lane. We went to Holy Trinity Church and often helped at coffee mornings in Jacobs Well. Audrey's memories reminded me of so much.
