Your views please …

I’ve always had an ‘about’ page on this website, and I rewrite it every now and then, as the site has changed a lot since 2004. When it started it was just me putting photos online and writing about them, and my wanderings. Since then it’s contained history, memories, research, a whole page about a couple of old lamp posts, musings on events, opinions, thoughts on the Local Plan, more opinions, quite a lot about Lendal Bridge. And old photos, and albums of more recent ones, and bits of my old scrapbook.

I envisage that the opinions and concerns regarding threats to the place as we know it will become more frequent, as these are difficult times for our local heritage. I realise this is of less interest to many people on my mailing list who I know live elsewhere now.

I am really interested though in hearing your views. What, for you, is York Stories about?

And, perhaps, if something comes to mind, which is your favourite page on this website?

Thank you

  1. York Stories means I get to see the changes to York as they happen because I no longer live there. I get to see a snapshot of a beautiful city layered with history as it changes and I enjoy reading the informed opinion and features. Lovely site.

  2. Fantastic page good history good for kids education nice to see and learn about the place I live.keep up the work would be good to see more now and then pictures.

    • I will be including more of the older photos & comparisons Wojciech, as I now have permission to use the photos from the city archives. That wasn’t the case until fairly recently, originally I was told I’d have to pay.

I appreciate your kind comments. Many thanks, Lisa
