Neville England’s club was definitely the 55 Club, and I was a frequent visitor. His partner’s name was Jean, and she ran it when Neville was sentenced to a short stretch (rather harshly I thought).

I’m pretty sure it was the 71 Club. I used to go there while a student in 1976/77. There was a woman on the door called Frida if I recall well. Happy days!

My first job was in a 3 storey place I’m sure on micklegate I was 15 it was 1978 On the top floor was The staircase restaurant on the middle was the pub I can’t remember the name but the licensee owner was Neville England and the women who ran it was called Rusty .There was a nightclub in the basement and that was called (a number) maybe 55 club or something .If you know the name of it the would be great it’s been driving me mad for years.
