Have read with pleasure your report on the York 2000 campaign against the inner ring road plans. Unfortunately I haven't any further pertinent info to offer, except that as one of those young and definitely pesky but ineffective intellectuals at Heslington, studying politics no less, I still retain vivid memories of the poster that was used to advertise the Campaign - a colorful sort of montage of historic York sites, almost a Salvador Dali comes to York. I even lifted one from a local telegraph pole, or was it a board, and for many years decorated bedsits with it. But unfortunately nowadays no sign of such via Google of other searches. I wonder if it's in D Cummin's book?
May we never attain all that we seek, as the gypsy didn't say. But it doesn't stop us trying.
