Nice to see this view Lisa, as I used to walk this way very regularly. There's rather a secret feeling about the landscape east of Fulford Road that makes for a special atmosphere - I think so anyway. The barracks, the stray, the allotments and Heslington and the university get mixed up together in a patchwork threaded by formal and informal paths. This is definitely a formal one! Interesting collections of military vehicles were often visible through the fencing, and piles of mysterious gear. At times there was an armed soldier on guard at either end of the path. Helicopters landing at the base sometimes came very low over this path sending leaves and whatever else was lying around flying everywhere. All part of life down here in south York.
