7-11-22
I have just come across this site. I went to classes at Marygate, in the late 50’s,dressmaking, tailoring, and cookery. The cookery was a City and Guilds course, basic, advanced and then a teachers course. I was able to use these skills when I moved from York. What a shame these places seem to no longer exist.

My aunt was Miss P.M.Everitt who was principal of the Adult Education Centre for many years. I remember visiting her there just before her retirement. She did good work and was much loved by all accounts - I have a photo of her making a speech in the grounds.
