&lt;p&gt;Very appropriate when applied to thieving would be literata.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It  was an engineering term used by us Planning Engineers,when the job in hand was running wild!!(Carborundum was/is a grinding wheel supplier,used thro&#8217;out  industry)&lt;/p&gt;
