I don't understand....how can you own it and borrow money from yourself? How can this exist given the health and social care issues facing the city?!?

Make it York (MIY) is also set to ask City of York Council for almost £100,000 in financial assistance at a meeting of the council’s shareholder committee next week.

The struggling agency, set up and wholly owned by the council, has seen its revenues decimated by the pandemic.

The other day I bumped into a friend, a long time York resident and we both agreed York has gone downhill, not the nice place it used to be. She has considered moving away. I have had to be in York the last two days and now actively avoid Parliament Street. It is dangerously overcrowded. The terrorist barriers are awful and could be a health and safety issue with crowds squashing through them. I can't see that the Christmas Market brings any benefit to York trade unless people stay at hotels. How does Make it York calculate the money these events brings in to the city?
