This was the School gym. The community centre was what was known as "The New Block" it housed 5th year class rooms and upstairs there were Domestic Science rooms. There was a studio flat kitted out with a bed that pulled down from the wall to use and then would fold back up to the wall. This was used to give students an idea of how life could be when we left school and set up our own homes. Pupils were taught how to iron a blouse in the studio. It was an all girls school

"There was a school here, built in the late 1930s, completed in the 1940s, and this building looks to be part of that, with a curvy 1930s thing going on."

Hi Lisa, you are correct this building was part of the school, my mum, auntie, mother in law, wife and sister in law all went to that school, it will be a massive shame if it goes. The building is fit for purpose, Just the council I am sure would just sooner knock it down and put some more flats on it.
